Marrakech and Surroundings
The Imperial city of Marrakech is a city full of life but around Marrakech surprising landscapes await the travellers.
30 km from Marrakech, the Ourika Valley, at the feet of the Atlas Mountains, offers an extraordinary scenery of fertile plains, Berber homes and local markets.
Another day-long trip can take you to the Ouzoud Waterfalls where water drops 100 mts into the river creating beautiful natural pools. Essaouira, on the Atlantic coast, is full of bohemian spirit with art galleries, wood craftsmanship and argan oil cosmetic centers. It was a very important portuguese trading port and today center of a very rich fishing market. You can have a very interesting day walking through the harbour, to the souks, the galleries and the old ramparts.
Longer excursions take you to the rocky pre-desert at Ouarzazate, stopping at the Unesco site of the kasbah of Ait-Benhaddou on the way. You can also go to the Merzouga desert with the highestsand dunes of Marocco. There you can witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
Another exceptional experience is an air balloon flight over Palmeraie – Marrakech starting from the Jbilet small mountains. A 360 degree view will guarantee an unforgettable open-air adventure.
